Easter is a few days away. When it comes to this special weekend what do you focus on? The death, the tomb, the resurrection? Peter provides a positive clue on where our focus should be. He says ‘Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven – and the future starts now!’ 1 Peter 1:3 Msg.
Christ’s betrayal, his humiliation and extreme torture and excruciating pain on the cross needs to be contemplated and solemnly reflected on. Yet, after all He suffered, His response was ‘Father, forgive them…’ If you had suffered such pain would you have forgiven? His rest in the tomb reminds us that the pain was over and that Sabbath offered relief, rest and a promise that better things were ahead.
Easter Sunday events gave humanity hope. His tomb was empty. He overcame death in a glorious resurrection. Because He was resurrected we celebrate – our hope was made certain – we too shall be resurrected. Christ’s resurrection says we know we have life beyond death. We will be part of His coming kingdom of glory. 1 Cor. 15:35 – 50. Paul again says because of Christ’s resurrection, ‘nothing you do for Him is a waste of time or effort.’ 1 Cor. 15:58.
As we reflect on this period, we also give thanks for the thousands of supporters who have shared with us to empower children and communities who have suffered and have now found hope through the giving of others. The image attached is a recent opportunity to share with our friends, John & Rosemary Malkiewycz with the team at 3ABN Australia. This Easter may your faith be strengthened; your hope brightened and your love for Him multiplied. Blessings to you from our team.
